an addition to a text, e.g. a book or essay, usually provided at the end of the text. For example, if the main text refers to a speech, and the author wants the speech to be available for readers to look at (as additional information), then the full speech will be included as an appendix. Other examples of items that can be included in an appendix are official documents, letters, original text or detailed calculations.
